Harris Arts Center~"A Classical Tribute to Roland Hayes" Concert

Roland Hayes Concert Description: 2012 marks the 125th anniversary of the birth of Roland Hayes in June of 1887. In celebration of the lifelong achievements of this remarkable tenor, the first African-American to receive international acclaim on the operatic stage, the Roland Hayes Museum Committee proudly presents ''A Classical Tribute to Roland Hayes'' on Sunday, February 5th at 3 PM at the Harris Arts Center. Ticket prices are $10 for adults, $8 for students. Featured performers will be members of the choruses of Gordon Central, Sonoraville and Calhoun High Schools, under the direction of Kim Watters, Hannah Nelson and Casey Parker. Selections will include spirituals popularized by Hayes, as well as classical arias drawn from Hayes' international performances.
